Stay for more than 1 night! I returned to Heydalur after visiting last year. It’s such a beautiful comfortable haven in Iceland. Who doesn’t want homemade bread and jam with breakfast, go for a horse ride followed by a soak in a hot pot? Most comfortable bed I had in all of Iceland. Staff is lovely. Hope to return soon.

Wonderful property and charming character! Lucked out, as right after checking in there was an arctic fox just outside the doorway. The breakfast was one of the best I had during my trip in Iceland. Their smoked salmon was, by far, the best I had.

Really warm welcome. Very polite and hospitable. Pretty landscape and delicious restaurant. Nice hot pots - indoor and outdoor. The hostel is worth the price.

10/10 Exceptional

It is certainly "off the beaten path", but well worth a visit. While there is plenty to do at the Heydalur site itself, we used it as a base for day trips to other parts of the area. The valley is just beautiful. And the Country Inn, while a bit rustic, has everything you need. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with all you need (including wifi). The staff could not be better - personable, knowledgable and willing to accomodate special requests. We had dinner there every night and it was delicious - from freshly caught trout to Stella's delicious stuffed chicken breasts.

Great facilities and staff. Small guesthouse which makes the facilities all the more enjoyable. Greenhouse pool and outside hot pools were fabulous to relax and unwind in. The guesthouse hall for check in and meals was charming with a wonderful atmosphere and had an upstairs nook for further relaxation. The visiting of the artic fox was well announced and wonderful to see her doing so well. A really homely, warm and country character place that I wished we had spent longer at.

Super friendly staff. Property is maybe 15 minutes drive on a dirt road but is totally worth the drive. Probably our favourite stay in Iceland. 3 x hot pots on site. They grow a lot of their own food. Regrettably didn’t have a chance to try any. BEAUTIFUL surroundings. Lovely room.

Overall happy with our stay at this guesthouse. Charming little property in the Westfjords. We appreciated the cleanliness of our rooms and the comfy beds. Please note that there is absolutely no restaurant or grocery etc anywhere close to this guesthouse so I suggest reserving a table at the restaurant upon arrival. I wasn't personally very impressed with the food that seemed a tad outdated for the price but it was still an enjoyable experience regardless. We really appreciated using the thermal hot pool outside as well as visiting the greenhouse.

Very remote inn in Westfjords with natural hot pot
This inn (and working farm) is located in a very isolated area of Iceland, the WestFjords. It is the only inn or even restaurant for many, many miles off a gravel road so it is really a destination. The inn has a pleasant vaulted ceiling reception and restaurant. Breakfast and Dinner were delicious and reasonably priced. Our room was modest but sufficient. This inn has an indoor pool, 2 outdoor hot tubs and then another natural hot pot located on the property about 100 meters/yards from the rest of the facility across a stream (so wear your water shoes). This was the highlight for us as we had been looking for a natural hot pot to experience the true Iceland.
