Amazing adaptive reuse
Very interesting adaptive reuse of historic site. Excellent as a hotel. Hope service level can keep up, specifically restaurant bar hours. House-keeping is excellent, included breakfast is excellent. Only evening restaurant hours are a little uncertain.

Our preferred hotel stay
Our stay was perfect, one of our favorite places to stay in the Buffalo area. Beautiful, comfortable, and clean rooms and spaces. We love that it so convenient to Elmwood Village and our local family.

Fabulous
Absolutely amazing hotel - a completely renovated architectural gem by H.H. Richardson set among 40 acres of an Olmsted-designed park. Outstanding reuse of a fabulous building and gorgeous hotel with excellent service. Loved, loved, loved.

Overpriced, ugly signs, still an architectural gem
This is an extraordinary hotel and an architectural gem but wildly overpriced for what it is. It used to be classy when it was hotel Henry but has been downgraded by terrible management, hideous signage, and big photos everywhere instead of tastefully curated local art it once featured. The most frustrating is that they have horrible scented air fresheners everywhere that create a sickening smell. In summary it feels cheap and cheesy since reopening, incredibly sad.

Exceptional stay in a gorgeous hotel!
An amazing accommodation! This hotel is one of a kind, with a very interesting history. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. I love the little reading nooks, and the common areas on each floor. I would be delighted to return, and can't recommend highly enough! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us... five stars!!

We loved staying in this historic building. It has been beautifully updated but you still get the feel of the past. As far as eco friendliness - it would be better to provide paper rather than plastic water cups and in the room to reduce plastic waste. Also biodegradable / compostable cutlery at breakfast. Thank you for the paper coffee cups.

Back to Buffalo in style
The first view, at dusk, was a bit scary. No lights seemed to be on in the hotel and the silhouetter against a cloudly sky was formidable. But inside I found welcome and warmth. The front desk staff was helpful and everything inside and out seemed well tended. I would like to point out that the person responsible for housekeeping in my rooom was lovely. When she learned that I had been sick, she helped with cleanup and was very solicitous. -bathrooms are cold, when you get out of the shower, the room is very chilly - showerhead points inward toward the wall, so you aren't feeling the full faucet. I believe its this way because the shower pan is too low and the faucet would flood the room otherwise - bathroom light on either side of the mirror is extremely harsh and its difficult to see yourself - soap dish is mounted right where a person would stand. So you have a choice - either hit the dish or leak the shower. - the instructions for the tv specify using the 'OK' button, of which there was none. It should be updated. - the all-day coffee near the front desk is a lovely idea. The milk furnished for it should be an unflavored milk product that is shelf stable (and it does come in creamer sized) - The bar should be offering glug (mulled wine) or something along those lines for the holidays - the food quality in the continental breakfast is well below par for a hotel at this price point. The quantity of choices is fine, but the quality is lacking.

Interesting hotel. Historic property with some beautiful architecture and features but plastered with garish signs and furnished with unusual pieces. Overpriced in my opinion.

4/10 Fair

The hotel itself is gorgeous to look at. I got a suite because it was my anniversary and I was hoping that it would be fairly spick and span considering how much it cost for a single night but our suite door would not close without myself or my partner putting our full body weight on it and our heat was not working. So, we made sure that our bedroom door was closed and properly locked when it was time for bed. I called multiple times before my visit to ask about early check in for the suite and was told that staff would not be able to give me an answer and that I should keep calling back. However, I had an inkling that the suite I paid for should be available. It was not until I showed up in person, gave my name and shared that I booked the suite, that I was told that I could check in. I most likely won’t be coming back but the place is gorgeous so they certainly get points for that. And I liked the museum area downstairs.

So glad to have stumbled upon this property when searching a place to stay. It is a beautifully remodeled historical building. If anything I wish we had more time to try to in-house restaurant and relax in one of the vintage lounge areas. The service was great as well. It is a good little neighborhood with easy access to other parts of the city, whether you are going downtown or to Niagara Falls, it is a quick on/off the highway. Highly recommend
