Awful motel and dishonest staff. Avoid.
Horrible stay in this horrible old motel. We were lied to when checking in and not given the room we booked. After realising the bait-and-switch we requested to be out in the right room, which the staff and manager protested and gave multiple made up excuses (none of which aligned with the others or were true). They finally admitted they were holding it in hope of a walk-in to arrive, which is bizarre for a motel to screw over their already paying guests, when we were almost the only people in the whole place. The rooms were old, filthy bathrooms and didn't have fire alarms. They eventually conceded the room was empty and we should be in it, and refused to offer any discount for the terrible experience or hour lost relocation my family to the new room. We won't ever stay at this awful motel ever again. Note: photos limited to 8, so could only show a few things. The shower was blocked and disgusting, among multiple other issues.

We loved the retro feeling of the motel, which made a welcome change from soulless, bland new accommodation that seems to be the norm these days. The hosts are fantastic, very friendly and made us feel very welcome every time we returned. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to New Zealand!

Great motel, well appointed. Older style so sound proofing wasn't as good. Dog friendly (at additional cost) but units did not smell of dogs. Only complaint - those of us with extra padding - the toilet was squeezed into a corner with walls either side. Even the less padded members of our group found it cramped.

Excellent location, easy walk to beach and shops/restaurants, or a very short drive to St Heliers or Mission Bay. Accommodation was perfect for us and our two children, who had a separate bedroom with two single beds. Always seem to struggle getting accommodation with one double bed and two single beds unless you want to pay extortionate prices. Everything was super-lovely and we're really glad that we booked two nights here.
