My Review
The grounds were nice. There were times when the service wasn't so great. I. emailed the spa twice before arriving to make reservations for a service, but they never responded. My friend asked for her luggage to be carried to the front, and they didn't come. We went to the pool near building 15 before they closed at 6 pm, but the bartender was nowhere to be found, and there were no more towels stocked. The restaurant staff was great, and the rooms were nice! The check-in folks were nice as well!

Disappointing Birthday Experience at Excellence El
I visited Excellence El Carmen in the Dominican Republic for my birthday, hoping for a luxurious getaway, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Positives: The property is beautiful, with well-manicured grounds and clean facilities. Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing I can say about it. Negatives: 1. Service: The service was inconsistent and lackluster. Room service never arrived despite multiple requests, leaving us frustrated and hungry. 2. Food: The food was terrible. Dishes at The Kitchen Table looked old and unappetizing, almost as if they were artificially made. I became sick after dining at the Spice restaurant, even though I avoided drinking the water entirely. Upgrading to the “Excellence Club” made no difference in food quality. 3. Drinks: The liquor was low-grade and disappointing, far below the standards of a luxury resort. Again, the Excellence Club upgrade added no value here. 4. Cleanliness: There was a roach in my room. For a resort claiming to be high-end, this is unacceptable and speaks to poor attention to detail. 5. Dress Codes: The resort enforces outdated dress codes that feel completely unnecessary and out of touch for a modern vacation experience. 6. Entertainment: The Michael Jackson performance lacked energy and was far from entertaining. 7. Fake Reviews: Be wary of glowing reviews online—they seem fake, likely created by bots. The receptionist was very helpful. His name was Wilnol. He was the most helpful person on the Resort. He definitely convinced me to upgrade my room. Remember his name. It is Wilnol. 5 Stars for Wilnol. The Magna Restaurant was perfect. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 10. They have an excellent Tomahawk Steak and it comes with the Excellence Membership upgrade.

The food is garbage. Essentially the same level of food quality (and probably less variety) than the low end all inclusives. For a resort that bills itself as having above average food, it was shockingly bad. The rooms are nice in pictures but a bit tired in person and cleanliness is not great. Our room stunk of sewage and had a mouldy smell. After 24 hours, we were offered a different room that smelled so strongly of cigarettes we opted to stick with the sewage room. Everything else about the place was equivelant to the very low end all inclusives. Waste of money

The resort is upbeat and fun. Constant activities are going on, rain or shine. The entertainment team is great. The public bathroom are very clean and always taken care of. The drinks and bartenders are great. Although the alcohol was sometimes scarce when it came to brand names. Restaurants are good. I went to the Indian last night which is very good. Also, the chairs are very low and for me uncomfortable. The supervisor of the restaurant went and got me a higher chair. He said just ask you will receive. I appreciated that!

The staff and service was stupendous. Great quality of a property. There isn’t anything I really just could complain about. We loved our stay and did not want to leave. Thank you Excellence and the entire staff. We will be exploring sister properties and properties alike as we become familiar with the VIP service and as we travel across additional countries.

The property is very nice and the service is great. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful. We ended up upgrading and getting the VIP package which was suppose to give us better benefits such as high quality drinks and food but the drinks were the same all around except one of the bars & the food was good but small portions. Also they never restocked my fridge like they say they would. With the upgrade, they’re suppose to restock your fridge everyday and restock any bottles you might have finished and that never happened. Also the “room upgrade” was a scam. It was a bore of the resort not the beach.

I love that from the moment you step foot onto the property until the time you leave the property, every staff member was kind, approachable and helpful. They have an abundance of daily activities; and restaurants to eat at. My only disappointment was they did not refill our room minibar and fridge daily without me having to call them.
