We’ve stayed here several times before and overall it was charming. This time we were in a much smaller room, which was fine, except the shower was in great need of cosmetic repair and there were no screens on the (low to the ground) open windows, which is a bit dangerous

Quirky accommodations in a fantastic location. Historic building that’s under continuing renovation/improvement. Room was super clean, check in and access processes are unique- if you’re comfortable with atypical accommodations this is a great value.

Location is amazing- the building is old and being renovated. Our room was great- had a kitchen and a decent amount of space. One of the window panes was separated from the frame so it actually let air in. We noticed a lot of little things like that bc the building is old and still needs work. But the location and the staff- you can’t beat that!

Lovely room, excellent service.

The room was lovely. The windows were rattling and not very sound proof, but they are waiting on new windows to arrive. The building is a work in progress, but it is in great condition for it's age and it is in a beautiful location. He was kind enough to let us leave our suitcases in the lobby while we roamed the beach waiting for our room to be available and he gave us a chance to check in earlier than the standard time.

Hotel is such a unique gem. Owner is trying to preserve the historical feel while updating interior. While the updates seem to be taking some time, the accommodations are CLEAN. Staff is so friendly. Location can not be beat.

Home Away From Home

The Vurpillat hotel is quaint, vintage, and charming – an immediate attraction for me. I enjoy visiting historical places and buildings. Although it has been modernized for daily comfort it still maintains its original 1920s style and character. I have stayed at many hotels but The Vurpillat is my favorite by far – I wake up and slumber to the sounds of crashing waves and amazing views of the beach and sunsets. Throughout the day, people are on the strand exercising. Jay, the owner, makes sure that his staff is efficient, attentive, genuinely friendly, caring, and accommodating as demonstrated by Nicole, Derick, and Juana. He has created a pleasant ambiance that is welcoming, comfortable, and relaxing. Since mid 2024, I have been coming back on a monthly basis, always feeling valued by Jay and his staff. The hotel has become my home away from home. I have met such awesome people! What a great hotel to rest, refresh, and renew!

Great location

The spot was right on the beach and ownership is great. The communication was awesome and my room was ready when I got there. Only negative is I could hear everything in the hallway and wasn’t able to rest well. I recommend putting a towel at the bottom of the door andbringing earplugs.

The hotel is in a wonderful location and appears to have history. However it was a pretty average stay. A bit disappointed that when I arrived just after 3 my room was not ready and that they didn’t have parking passes left. Overall condition needs some work and it wasn’t super clean.

Location is amazing!! Older building, that has been repurposed into a hotel. They were still in the midst of Reno’s. The hotel kind of has single room Hostel vibes. Rooms are nice, showers are like a phone booth. The man checking you in was nice. Issue: The sound carries in this old building and the couple above me (with a dog) were fighting with each other all night. She stormed out and came back several times (with the dog). It was brutal. I was unable to get any sleep and there are no staff at the hotel overnight to deal with this situation. The bed was comfortable, the staff were nice but I have to give the place a poor rating because of my experience.
