This was the cheapest I could find. Never again!
I check in at the pub ("reception") and there reasonably nice welcome. Had been "upgraded" for free they told me. I obviously said thanks and went up with the host. I got inside, and they left.
immediately it becomes evident that heating the room is an issue. The pub is probably an old heritage building, old enough that it'll be daft cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
I laid in bed under the duvet to test and see. with pants! still cold! Nose was too. Hands too... No way this would become any warmer. I checked heater, and it was on full blast.
Decided to call hotels.com to see what the right procedure would be if I wanted a refund.
Phoneguy would stay on the line while I go and ask them for a refund (their advice)
Girl in charge was in a darts game on her "night off" and couldnt be bothered to come over. When I did get her over, I told her the situation and that i'd like a refund with no ill tone, but literally just concerned.
She wouldn't give it, but gave a speech how guests have complained about everything else in the room but not the heating... very phoned in, as this was something they were used to repeating. Said I shud've come down to them b4 callin Hotels, as If that makes a difference.
Rude crew. If your guest is cold, refund! simple!
Upgrade was for me to think i'd gotten a good deal.
Room tiny and cold. As close to a scam as it gets.
