Need a more defined ENTRANCE from the street!
It was very difficult to find the actual entrance and there is no large lighted signage to help either. Just an immediate right turn into what looks like a small vacant fenced building lot. Other than this, everything else was fine.

Reason For 3 Star Review...
This best western was satisfactory. The room and property were clean, however, I just have a couple of comments. The pool area isn't very inviting and there is no hot tub. The room was excellent and looked nice, but the carpet had an odor of mold likely due to it being older and shampooed beyond it's life. Carpet definitely needs to be replaced -looks fine, but smells. If the carpet was new and the pool was more inviting with a hot tub, I would have given this 5 stars. Based on the above, I give it 3. Front desk Manager was great, everything else fine. If you are choosing this for a quick stay it more than serves that purpose, but not if you are looking for a more luxurious, resort hotel type situation. Hope this helps!

Roach Infested
I am extremely disappointed with our recent stay at this hotel. The room was infested with roaches, which is absolutely unacceptable for any level of accommodation. We noticed them shortly after checking in, and it completely ruined our experience. We expected a clean and comfortable environment, but instead, we were left feeling uncomfortable and disgusted. Cleanliness and basic hygiene should be a top priority, and unfortunately, this hotel failed miserably. I would not recommend staying here until they address their pest problem and take better care of their facilities.

Staff was friendly and helpful. I would have liked more lamps in the room - there was only one. The rest was canned lighting. Room and bathroom were clean. The ironing board and iron were in the toilet and shower room. I would not be prone to using an iron and ironing board that was stored next to the toilet.

Thoroughly Enjoyable Stay
We stayed at Best Western San Juan Capistrano for 13 nights. Every attention to comfort was there without the costly price: spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows, quiet room heater AC unit, good sized and absorbent towels, amazingly huge complementary breakfast, daily maid service and courteous staff.

Just barely good enough.
Rented 2 rooms and 1 room had mattresses so hard it was like the fake beds in the stores advertising bed linens. Also I reserved queen sized beds for both rooms and both rooms had full size beds. The chair in the room didn’t feel safe to sit in. Breakfast options were great.

We recently returned to our favorite spot for visiting the San Juan Capistrano Mission, a place we’ve cherished for years due to its convenient location. Each visit has always been special, and we usually treat ourselves by booking a room with a balcony, even though it comes at a premium compared to regular rooms. In the past, the balcony was a perfect place to enjoy morning coffee, with a little table and two chairs set up for relaxation. However, last year, we noticed a slight change—there was only a single chair. While this was unusual, it was manageable. But this year was a real disappointment: the balcony was completely bare. No chairs, no table, nothing. When we called the front desk to inquire, we were met with an explanation that balcony chairs were simply not available. It’s puzzling and frustrating to be charged extra for a balcony room that lacks the very amenities that make it worth the price. It feels like a missed opportunity for the property to maintain its charm and value. We hope they reconsider this policy, as we truly enjoy staying here and would love to continue our tradition with the comfort we’ve come to expect.
