Lovely hotel but could be better polished

Overall a lovely hotel - the activities are nicely thought out for both families and couples. The downside is we visited during peak holiday season - the check-in experience was unorganised & messy (though the iced peach tea & cold towel were cooling). Other than that, most of the time staff were friendly and very accommodating. The facilities are fun & lovely, even the lifeguards are on guard, the eco-tourism aspect is well-planned. But the restaurant menus were all really pricey (a Malaysian resident package would be an option)

Our stay was perfect: the staff were all so friendly and helpful, the grounds of the hotel are beautifully maintained and extremely spacious and the large selection of food and different types of restaurants was very impressive. The private beach is west facing so you get to experience amazing sunsets and the hotel kindly upgraded up to a lovely room with a great view of the beach. This hotel will always be very special to us as we got engaged on this trip and couldn’t have asked for a better setting or a more memorable trip!

Beautiful beach and swimming pools. Location is a little remote, excellent for getting away from the city, but a bit too far for going into Kota Kinabalu regularly. Service was good. Prices were decent. The resort needs a bit of updating - the showerhead was leaking, and cleaning the bird poo from the beach bar tables and chairs.

We were a group of women celebrating our 40th birthday’s. From the moment we arrived, the staff for so kind and welcoming. The resort is beautifully located. The pool was amazing and the food and drinks were superb. We tried a bit of everything- from hiking the reserve, SUP pool yoga, beach volleyball, karaoke, waterslides, the day spa…we decided to upgrade our rooms for the last couple days and made use of the Ocean View Rooms which have a bath on the balcony. We met Fiona the General Manager and she ensured the staff went above and beyond for us and organised a special dinner and breakfast. I honestly couldn’t fault anything and I keep telling everyone how much we loved every second. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you again for everything!!

Fantastic resort in Kota Kinabalu

Shangri-La is not located in the center of Kota Kinabalu but it is surrounded in the beautiful nature and worth staying. We had booked a nice room in the Ocean view part of the hotel. Restaurant called Oceano, had really good food and service and we ended up eating breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Food and staff lead by Charlie took very good care of us and made us feel really welcome. We did daily trips to the wells and canopy walk and if you wanted to stay in the resort you could do horse riding, swimming, walking in the beach etc. We do not play golf but there was a very good spa located in the golf club so we went to have treatment there. We simply had a very good time. We can recommend the resort to anybody who loves nature and good service!

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful location. The staff were all so kind and helpful, the amenities were plentiful and the options for food / activities were great. We found a lovely farm to table restaurant (Land Eco Farm) about a 10 min drive from the hotel which I would recommend for a sunset seafood dinner!
