Excellent renovated rooms!
We loved our stay at the Rio Hotel. I went during a very busy time in Jan, with lots of conferences and events happening in Vegas and the Rio Hotel was the most affordable option with the best ratings. We were impressed with how big and comfortable the rooms were in the Ipanema Tower. We were already planning to Uber everywhere since it is not on the Strip, but I found Uber prices not as crazy as I would expect. Some cons were the elevators need to be revamped cosmetically and the Casino could do with better smoke extractors. All in all, this has been the biggest hotel room that I have stayed in Vegas!

Poor service, smoky lobby
The actual room was comfortable, roomy, and clean. But getting that point meant incredibly poor customer service (Hyatt and Rio struggle to verify a simple confirmation number) and difficult navigation through a smoky casino. The windows looking out were so dirty that it was difficult to make out some sights. I needed an extra night to wait for my flight and Rio told me the only option was to pack up all my belongings and re-check in because my room and rate were different. That was not unreasonable. What WAS unreasonable was that they lodged me back in the same exact room after all my efforts. I’ll be avoiding the Rio at all costs in the future.

Answer your phones
People need to answer the phone. My daughter got sick in her bed and I wanted new sheets. I was on hold for over 20 minutes and finally hung up. My friend had a similar experience, 25+ minutes. Pathetic. Also, you need to go smoke free. It is so disgusting.

Avoid at All Costs – Complete Disaster
If I could give zero stars, I would. We stayed at the Rio for a gymnastics meet, and it was an absolute nightmare. I called twice before our stay to confirm we had a remodeled suite with two queen beds—both times, I was assured that was what we booked. Instead, we arrived to find a single king bed, forcing one of my daughters to sleep on a couch and the other on a rollaway. Then came the electrical issues. The outlets in our room would power low-wattage items like lamps, so we assumed they were fine. But when I tried to use my hairdryer, it wouldn’t work. Thinking it was broken, I bought a new one—only to find that one wouldn’t work either. It wasn’t until I went downstairs and plugged it into an outlet in the lobby that I realized the issue was our room’s power, not the hairdryer. I reported this multiple times, and despite being told maintenance would be sent, no one ever came to fix it. Unfortunately, we weren’t the only ones dealing with complete incompetence. Several other gymnastics families had horror stories of their own: One family checked into a room flooded with sewage from the toilet. Another had a water pipe burst at 11 PM, soaking their entire room. A third family was given a room that reeked of weed, and the hotel’s “solution” was to spray air freshener instead of moving them—until the mother demanded a different room. This hotel is beyond mismanaged. The lack of basic customer service, maintenance, and overall cleanliness is unacceptable.

Staff friendly and polite, rideshare pickup and drop off conveniently located Decor is dates. Sheets are cheap and scratchy, pillows are cheap and flat. Casino floor smells musty and smoky, rest of hotel smells like mildew in areas. Room, linens smell off as well. Waited on hold for room service for like 15-20 minutes.

The Rio suffers from deferred maintenance, perhaps years of ot. Rusty fixtures in the bath, peeling wallpaper, broken tiles and worn furniture. The pool was closed and they still insisted in charging a resort fee. Poor choice during the week and weekend.
